The holiday break was rejuvinating. I did a lot of things, but most of them involved relaxation. I played games with the wife and kids, read some books, watched a few films, tended to the latest batch of baby mollies, and petted my cat. I also cooked some good meals, (sorta) fixed a car, and continued to make a nuisance of myself to IKEA customer service operators, but all those things were really in service of things I wanted to do anyway. Now, however, it’s time to come out of the cocoon of leisure and indulgence and get back to work and real life and all that stuff.

I’m of two minds about this; I enjoyed my break, and could easily spend more time lounging – there’s plenty of Dragon Age and Afrika left to play, after all, and the laughter of a two year old is infectious. However, my devotion to routine was looking to fall back into the default pattern, and this project’s not done, and I’d rather like to see it through; for all the headaches, I like sifting through software in order to find and fix problems.

So, I went back. I couldn’t avoid digging through those 200 emails forever.

Happy New Year, everybody!
