During the usual Saturday-after-payday shopping, I was wandering through Costco, checking out the DVD shelf, and, Lo-And-Behold, out in plain sight, three days before official release, was a fresh case of “The Incredible Hulk” 3-disc special edition DVDs for reasonably cheap.
So, of course, I grabbed one. Far be it from me to pass up this cool flick 72 hours early.
When the kids (well, the two of them with me this weekend; the big girls are out camping) and I got to the checkout with the rest of our purchases, however, the damned thing wouldn’t scan. Apparently, the computers are advanced enough now that they have the capacity to not allow something to be sold before it’s official street date. So, I had to hand it back (damnit), and I probably got the stocker in trouble. Sorry, stock kid, at least you work for a good company that pays you a decent wage and health care – I hope you still do.
On the drive home, I entertained the idea that I probably should have grabbed a barcode sticker off of something else at the same price and switched ’em, but that would probably be dishonest, wouldn’t it?
Oh well.
