time travelling

16 Nov

Given the rain, my allergies, the lack of much money in the entertainment budget (thanks, water heater!), and sheer sloth, I didn’t get out much this weekend. It was just easier to stay camped on the couch, getting up occasionally to cook meals, clean up after children, and do some laundry.

My biggest accomplishment was watching a whole bunch of vintage Doctor Who; a serial each from Doctors Four, Five, Six, and Seven. I consider it a completely worthy endeavor.

You see, back in the 1980s, PBS used to run Doctor Who for a couple of hours most weekend afternoons, and many of those weekend afternoons, I was camped out in front of the tube watching and spending time with my dad. I miss that, and my little marathon let me re-live those days for a short while. Also Andrew and I watched Peter Davison outwit the Cybermen, and Mary and I spent some time with Tom Baker and Sarah Jane, dealing some ancient Egyptian alien robot mummies.

Passing the torch, you know, even if that McCoy serial was mostly incomprehensible; it was still a lot of fun.
