Not particularly significant traditionally (the greeting card/engraving shop cartels say I’m supposed to give the gift of steel) or numerically (it’s a prime number, but not much else).

And, in our case, it’s not even particularly correct. We’ve really been a collective entity for more like 16.52 years, assuming my math is right. The ceremony just formalized what already existed, and served a few useful legal purposes.

Still, it’s an important milestone, and not just in a “human brains seek out patterns” kind of way.

For me, it’s another year of successful parternship, doing what works for us, and not necessarily what society expects of us. Another year remaining gleefully non-traditional and comfortably stable, relying on each other to shore up each other’s shortcomings and keep each other amused and sane.

Another year of simply being happy in each other’s company. I hope it’s something we never, ever lose.

Happy Anniversary.
