♬Dunt, Du-Nunt, Da-Nunt, Da-Nunt♬ – and get off my lawn….

28 Jan

You kids today, with your hundreds of channels on digital cable or satellite, with your VoD, your Pay-Per-View…

You still don’t have an MTV that plays videos.

But, now, thanks to the magic of some guy finding an old VHS tape in a box in the basement and google video, you can see what life was like when I was nine years old; when in the span of three hours, you could see videos from Night Ranger, George Thorogood, The Steve Miller Band, Madness, Michael Jackson, Billy Idol, The Prentenders, and Joe Walsh (and I’m not listing close to all of them). Plus, a bunch of old commercials, Mark Goodman’s Hair, and studio spots produced on a shoestring. Oh, and the commerical for 1-800-HOT-ROCKS, where if you buy five records or tapes, you get one free.

So, children, get out your parachute pants and click below to visit 1983, when MTV was all about music, boasted about broadcasting in Stereo, and the Moon Man was more than an award statuette:

Now, if only this guy had hit record during Martha Quinn’s shift. She was yummy.
