Still a good assessment, 16 years later

It took the kids less than a week to bring back some sort of flu-resembling virii which had me sidelined most of the weekend. I spent Saturday and Sunday resting in order to conserve my strength and let my body repair itself. Two solid days, mostly crashed on the couch with the baby (who was also not feeling that well) watching DVDs.

One of the films I watched was The War Room, the 1993 documentary about Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, focusing primarily on the efforts of George Stephanopoulous and James Carville. Throughout the film, you see and hear Carville’s mantra for the campaign’s message over and over, which, despite everything that’s happened since (Carville and company have moved mostly from upstart to establishment), still seems like a good lesson for today’s upstart candidate to take to heart:

Change vs. More of the Same

It’s The Economy, Stupid!

Don’t Forget About Health Care

As we wade through this current campaign, despite all the scandals, spears, lies, and non-issue stories, it’s important to remember the stuff that actually matters.
