…I experience pangs of great regret that I shall never be as erudite as slacktivist.
I wish I could distill topics down to their essence as effectively as this:
Tea partiers tend to revere the U.S. Constitution in much the same way that many American evangelicals revere the Bible, which is to say they read it without comprehension, looking only for ammunition that can be used against their enemies. And since neither text was written for such a purpose, this so-called reverence is an exercise in illiteracy.
This, is, of course, before he even starts applying wit and humor to drive his point home. Honestly, if you read only one thing on the internet today (well, besides this thing), you need to read this post.
It really says something about a writer when he or she goes the extra mile to give readers a well-constructed piece when the subject has gone to such great lengths to set commentators up with such easy punchlines.
