tuesday night hotel status report
…and various and sundry other non-consequential details.
Free food and free internet this week (plus free alcohol if I so desire), which is kind of nice. No wonder I can never get into this place consistently. It is a little bit out of the way, but there’s some interesting stuff a few blocks’ walk from the front door, so I can’t complain too much.
Work’s the usual; I really do enjoy the kind of work I’m doing, I just wish I didn’t have to spend so much time on the road to do it. Tonight will be #75 this calendar year. My record is 110, but the year’s not over yet. Sure, the hotel points I’m earning will cover a free Playstation 3 according to the last catalog, but that’ll be no fun if I’m never home to play overpriced games and Blu-Ray movies on it.
I need a little bit of a change; and I’m getting kind of discouraged on that particular front.
The biggest excitement today was the fire alarm around lunch time; NOT a drill. There was no actual fire, but a couple of big shiny fire trucks showed up to point out that it was a false alarm. Watching them back out of the concrete-barriered-for-your-pleasure parking lot was entertaining. It was a nice way to kill 30 minutes and catch up with friends (including one contractor who’s taking the next three months off, going on a couple of cruises, and visiting in-laws in South America…lucky bastard).
Nothing much else on the agenda for the rest of the week; I’m going to try not to get sick, so Andrew and I can go camping this weekend.
I told you it was entirely non-consequential.
