friday random eleven: “trying to tilt the balance toward the positive” edition
The story of my week has been (aside from the weird ads – the lubricants are back, btw) trying to get in the same room with my boss for ten freaking minutes so as to have a very necessary discusssion about resources (as in “I need more of them so I can do the things you’re tasking me with, so I need you to go into the system and approve those purchase requests so I don’t have to lose my program people” and a couple of other things), though he’s stood me up (with good reason – I’ll forgive you if it involves hospitals), and gotten stacked with senior management things every time since Tuesday, and let’s be frank, he isn’t all that good at reading email.
Oh well, enough of that. Otherwise this week, it’s been cool, mostly…or sorta…or whatever…stuff I’m not going to talk about here. Anyway, I finished a book. I paid my bills. I wrote and recorded a bass part for the new Humdingers song demo which I’m pretty proud of (getting out of comfort zone, stretching my abilities a bit…and it sounds good!), we’ve tentatively lined up a recording session to ideallly knock out a record before the con/festival gigs start ramping up in May/June. Looks like I might even get a songwriter credit on this one (we’ll see how it comes together) so that’s another milestone I’m getting ready to move past (though I’ll have a couple of those if we ever get this other project recorded, which I’d like to do before the summer really gets rolling).
So there…I’m seeing that my good stuff paragraph is better than my bitching paragraph. I guess that’s my signal to end.
