because I felt like it, a tuesday post
My last post ended singing the praises of the live-action Japanese Spider-Man tv show. I believe I mentioned the machine gun guitar cowboy? And didn’t post a link to this wonder of 70s television? Well, click here.
With that bit of business out of the way…
Not sure how I feel about the week…when I got to work on Monday, I had plenty to keep me busy. People seemed mostly happy to see me back. Still, after royally screwing up the resume keywords for those job openings, I feel like everybody’s looking at me funny….like I’m, I don’t know, tainted with failure or something (which is weird, because I never talked about it with anyone at work, so how could anybody know?). And, given that the people who got the jobs more or less lined right up with seniority on the project – skipping over me, of course – I’m pretty sure I would have gotten one.
I can’t get too ticked off about it – my best “work friend” got a nice promotion, which she deserved, and the other folks aren’t complete tools, so it’s okay. Still, it doesn’t quite feel like I fit there any longer. I think it’s mostly because I’ve been gone for a month or more, and it’s all self-imposed (I’ve never seriously been the social butterfly at work anyway), but I’ll always wonder.
Anyway, I updated my resume again this afternoon, both to incorporate the class I just took, and the new SysAdmin responsibility I just got handed. I also made sure every last keyword that I somehow missed the last time around got in with a vengeance, so I won’t screw up next time, if there is a next time.
Of course there will be, but who knows when. No use worrying about it.
Otherwise, things at home are rolling along. It’s a busy week for everybody else…besides the twice-a-week dance class, in about an hour, we’ll be heading over to the elementary school for the kids’ back to school night to sit through the longest PTA meeting ever, and meet the kids’ teachers. Thursday night is a parent meeting about auditions for the Richmond Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker, for which they need lots of kids which they mine from the dance school. Auditions are this weekend; we’ll see if anything pans out….we’ll keep you posted.
That’s all from here…I’m tired, and need to change clothes before heading out the door. I leave you with today’s special vocabulary word:
aibohphobia: the irrational fear of palindromes.
