bits and bobs
Maybe we will get something resembling a public option after all; even if there’s a “states can opt out” provision. That kind of pisses me off (given who’s likely to be running my state come January unless the polls shift dramatically in the next week), but honestly, if the eventual health care reforms actually work, any crankypants red state government that does opt out isn’t going to be in power very long. Whatever we end up with isn’t going to be perfect, but these are baby steps, and this bill is but the first stage of any real reform, but there’s at least some movement in the right direction.
This, above all else, is…SCIENCE!
Here I am, with a graduate degree in information systems management, getting paid to help design and administer a software logistics system with an annual financial throughput of almost a billion dollars, and what bit of arcane computer knowledge got me kudos today? Using the “show desktop” button in XP instead of manually minimizing a bunch of open apps individually. I weep.
Colleen thought she found the AWOL P. bridgesii yesterday, but alas, it was only a raisin.
Had some fun last night watching a couple of old TNG episodes for the first time in years while reading along with Wil‘s Memories of the Future Vol 1. Who knew? Picard does, indeed, do a Butthead impression in the middle of The Naked now.
The CdPdN comment spam folder is lately obsessed with naked Miley Cyrus lately. In Russian. Thank the Maker for Akismet‘s sparing us all.
…and with that, my google indexing gets really troubling.
/noddin’ my head like yeah, havin’ a seat over there…
