As I’d mentioned previously, we spent the weekend at Balticon doing the geek thing. Generally, I believe a good time was had by all, though I will freely admit that a long-weekend convention is probably about twelve to eighteen hours longer than I’m used to or (more likely) capable of handling without a little bit […]

Y’know, since it was so busy and all…I did things. But, given that it’s already Tuesday and I’ve moved on? I dunno. I can say that Colleen and I had a great time at the Jonathan Coulton show, and really enjoyed the new songs he played. The new record should be fun; really. Cough hand. […]

It takes a bit of work to shake off the effects of a convention weekend. I’m not sure if it’s euphoria, stress, exhaustion, or just dust on the social interaction muscles of a misanthropic introvert, but it always makes starting the week back in the mundane world a less than appetizing proposition. Those who read […]

It’s been a soul-sucking week, no question, for both me and the rest of the household. Hoping it gets better starting this afternoon, what with RavenCon in town and all. I just hope I can find some time to enjoy myself, and not spend the whole time on guard to make sure my kids aren’t […]

Linking to that Rebecca Black video on Friday was, in hindsight, a mistake. I say this because Catherine saw it, and for some reason (most likely the simplistic, monotonous lyrics which are almost ready for Sesame Street, except that Sesame Street lyrics are generally clever and novel), she spent the entire weekend singing it and […]

Happy birthday, Andrew! I really should post a picture here, as is my habit, but I can’t figure out how to do it from the phone. Just imagine a picture of nine penguins, or a photo of christopher eccleston here for now, okay? update: look! I sort of figured out how. Behold, nine penguins!

Got back from Marscon unscathed. I am tired now. That we got there at all was really the story of the con itself, though. Before our original planned departure, I hopped online in order to check the address for our hotel, only to find that the reservations I thought I had made weeks ago didn’t […]

…Con. That’s where we’ll be heading in a few hours – Marscon, in lovely Williamsburg VA, to rub shoulders with science fiction authors, artists, and fans all weekend, and hopefully have a little fun and a bit of an escape from all that work. So, don’t go looking for me. Don’t worry, I’ll say hello […]

Not a bad day here, overall. Snow’s just started falling, though the meteorologist guys say that it’s not going to be the huge storm they were threatening last week. I sit typing at my keyboard with the dulcet tones (or not) of the eldest’s rock tumbler rolling away polishing some semi-precious stones. At the other […]

Happy Solstice, everyone. Extra neat this year, given the total lunar eclipse last night. The view was quite good from my driveway between 2 and 3am last night, though you’d never know it from the photo above. The kids made it about fifteen minutes before deciding they were too cold.
