Japanese railway workers have their smile rated daily by a computer program:
Your smile, rated on a scale of 1-100 using some strange facial recognition mirth detection algorithm, then offered happy-making platitudes if it’s not up to snuff. Then there’s this:
Workers at Keihin Electric Express Railway will receive a print out of their daily smile which they will be expected to keep with then throughout the day to inspire them to smile at all times…
I’m having a hard time coming up with something that would feel more demoralizing to me as an employee. It’s unnatural.
Just like pieces of flair.
