Friday Random Ten – “in transit” edition
It took quite a bit of time to get home from DC yesterday, what with the whole precipitation business. I’m not sure what it looks like now, but As I was leaving the office yesterday around lunchtime, it looked something like this:
Needless to say, driving home wasn’t pleasant. About four hours of me, a government-issue Dodge Stratus I didn’t completely trust to remain stable in the slush, panicky beltway drivers, occasional calls home reporting progress, and (this is a reasonably bright spot) Ani DiFranco’s “Evolve” in the CD player.
Anyway, I’m glad that’s over.
The home office on Friday is kind of a wash, being moving day. I’ve been packed for a while, but everyone else continues to tear down. I’m mostly left alone to run some reports, file travel pay vouchers, and check access to remote testing portals so I can work at home next week. The email “out of office” message is still on, so nobody really bothers me.
And yeah, there’s music:
- “We Can Work It Out” -Anthony Stewart Head w. Amber Benson
- “Don’t Leave Me Now” – Pink Floyd
- “Hold My Life” – The Replacements
- “Let Me Go Easy (live)” – Indigo Girls
- “Big Man” – Big Back Forty
- “Forced Futility” – Jeffery Gaines
- “You Oughta Know” – Alanis Morissette
- “These Apples” – Barenaked Ladies
- “Crucify” – Tori Amos
- “Head over Heels” – The Go Gos
Have a good long weekend, everybody – I think, after this week, I’m going to need it.
