Friday Random Ten: “occasionally useful” edition
Just wrapped up another week on the road where I probably didn’t need to be on the road, which is a little frustrating – if it’s all the same, I’d rather sleep in my own bed, thanks.
The only uniquely travel-necessary thing I accomplished is victory in the weekly “guess the song” trivia contest that one of the project manager guys runs to keep all of us from diving in despair off the roof like oppressed white-collar lemmings team morale high. At a set time on Wednesday, he posts some lyrics on the whiteboard outside his office; the first person who emails the correct title and author wins.
Thanks to some quick memory callbacks and some judicious google-fu, I correctly identified the Shirelles’ “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and The Beastie Boys’ “Brass Monkey” (it was a two-fer, given that nobody’s travelling next week).
For my trouble, I earned the accolades of my peers and a cheap plastic trophy. Once in a while, being a walking wetware encyclopedia of pop culture ephemera pays off, doesn’t it?
In the meantime, add these to your mental indexing system for later recall:

- “Spider in my Room” – Barenaked Ladies
- “Revolution 1” – The Beatles
- “Waiting” – Ultravox
