Yeah, I’m getting worn out on the whole holiday cheer thing. So worn out,I’m quoting depressing Joni Mitchell Christmas tunes.
I ended up skipping the second holiday party on Thursday; one office party is enough for me. I felt good about the decision, and I got some work done.
The first party wasn’t bad at all, really. Everybody was having a good time, with light and fun little party games and badly-sung carols (we had about as much fun with that as we could, considering no booze was available). That is, until, somebody had to get all somber and faux-profound on us by doing a dramatic reading of some glurgy poem about santa visiting a soldier’s house. I don’t remember the title, but I expect it began with “Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:”.
Sucked All the life out of the room, that one, and the momentum never came back.
Nothing big planned for the weekend; mostly getting all the Christmas crafty stuff procured, and stay out of the wintery mix they’re promising for the weekend (good luck to mike, btw, in getting home today!)
Thanks! He’s waiting in Miami right now, his first plane is running a bit late. 😛
