it’s that time of year again
I ended up in the emergency room this afternoon.
While preparing dinner, my knife slipped while I was cutting up some boneless chicken breast, and I lopped off a small chunk of the inside tip of my left thumb. I didn’t even notice until the chicken started bleeding.
It’s really not that bad of an injury, just a nice bleedy one; but after Andrew’s adventure with the bicycle chain a few years ago, I couldn’t get past the possibility that I exposed some bone along with the meat; so I figured I was better getting things checked out, since I couldn’t really get a good look, given the steady flow of blood from the severed capillaries and the inconvenient position of the wound..
Luckily, it was nothing serious, just a thick layer of epidermis shaved off, but the dinner menu did include mild cauterization and a tetanus shot, just in case.
My wife tells me that from now on, she’s just going to keep me covered in a thick layer of bubble wrap.
