weekend to do done list
For what was, overall, a lazy, rainy weekend, I’m pretty proud of the things I managed to accomplish. It may not seem like a lot of stuff, but a lot of it is stuff that needed doing that hadn’t yet been done.
-♦- I finished doing my taxes. I put them off quite a while this year, for no reason i can discern, I usually have them nailed by President’s Day. Oh well, Federal and State are e-filed and accepted; now I just have to wait for the money, which should be coming in greater amounts than I expected.
-♦- I cleaned out my closet, bagging up a bunch of shirts, pants, and sweaters that either no longer fit or that I haven’t worn in more than a year. Haven’t actually run the bags to goodwill yet, but they’re in the back of the car (and the back of the car has to be empty by Friday, so it can be packed for a road trip). The car will pass the donation center at some point between now and then.
-♦- Did a slightly more thorough than usual fish-tank cleaning. Circumstances (i.e. fleet of baby mollies pooping everywhere) have widened the food level for scavenger pond snails who hitchhiked in a while ago. I used to have three or four, now I have dozens, which is too many. The inhabitants just don’t eat enough of them, and I have no room for loaches, so a deep vac will have to do.
-♦- Prepped some character sheets and adventure notes for the DnD 4E game we’re trying to get rolling again. We didn’t get it in this weekend amidst the kid activities and sinus headaches, but when we have the time, we just crack the books and go. Unless everybody wants to roll new characters again after seeing the new stuff in the PHB2 once the USPS decides to deliver it to me. Andrew and I did do some minis-&-map battles Saturday morning, though.
-♦- Cooked a few really nice meals. One does not appreciate how nice it is to have a home-cooked meal unless they’re forced to overdose on takeout and free hotel food for several weeks. It is possible to get really tired of eating out all the time.
-♦- I watched the film Eagle vs. Shark, which is pretty much the Kiwi version of Napoleon Dynamite, though I think I enjoyed it rather more, since ND, which started out as an absurdist little comedy, ended up becoming primarily a catchphrase factory once too many people got hold of it.
-♦- Downloaded Noby Noby Boy off of the playstation network. Quite possibly one of the weirdest video games ever, involving a little bug/worm thing eating and farting out common objects and stretching so another worm thing can stretch even farther out into the solar system. $4.99 well spent, I say.
Here’s to hoping the rest of this week will be as productive.
