100 emails for Andrew

05 Feb

Okay, friends and family, Andrew needs a little help with a school project. Monday, February 11th, 2008, is the 100th day of school. To commemorate the occasion, the kids in Kindergarten are being asked to bring in one hundred of something.

The letter the teacher sent home offered a few suggestions; stuff like puzzle pieces, small office supplies, pennies, etc. That’s boring. We thought we’d try something a little more creative:

We want Andrew to be able to take a stack of 100 email messages, from 100 different email addresses to school on Monday morning.

Here’s where you come in. We’ve set up a special email address just for the occasion; we’re asking everyone we can come up with (and anyone that you can come up with) to send a short note to 100emails4andrew@gmail.com, saying hello to Andrew, his class, and his teacher, Mrs. Wilkinson. Maybe congratulate them on making it through 100 days of school. Something light and fun.

A couple of lines are more than sufficient; remember, Andrew’s got to carry hard copies with him on the bus on Monday. And, while I’m sure you’re all models of virtue and tact, no dirty words or anything – these kids are five and six years old.

Oh, our cut-off for this is 5pm on Sunday, February 10th (we need time to print and collate).

So, we think it sounds like fun. We hope you do as well. We also realize that this could easily get much bigger than 100 emails, which is cool; we’re only going to send in 100, but a little bit of demographic info (how many responses total, where they came from, etc) might be fun; so if you know somebody overseas who’s got nothing better to do, have them send something!

Thanks, everybody!
