number nine….number nine….
Colleen and I have been married for NINE YEARS. Seems like forever. It’s not really forever, but really, if you factor in all the time we’ve been considered as “an item” by the casual outsider in addition to the whole married thing, we’re only two years off from being together longer than we’ve not been together.
That’s going to be the weird one. But it’s cool, because I’ve been lucky enough to find perhaps the only person out there who’s either crazy enough, masochistic enough, or patient enough to put up with me.
Don’t think I don’t appreciate it.
Seriously, I’ve got a girl who’s beautiful, funny, quirky, a great mother to our kids, appropriately lusty, can troubleshoot a finicky desktop linux installation, and is able to carry on a complex conversation ranging across metaphysics, politics, and classic british science fiction all while baking delicious treats.
What more can a guy ask for?

PS: these folks tell me that according to tradition, this year gifts are supposed to be either pottery, willow, or leather…maybe it’s just me, but all of those feel a little kinky to me….even the pottery, though for the life of me, I can’t articulate why.
